PHASE II REVIEW

A Brief Academic Tour
1993-1995
The primary product of my brief and sporadic college career
was a thankless career in infosec - but I still have a body of art
produced during that period that includes some of my more approachable
drawings.
Here are a few samples - I hope you enjoy them!

Pastels, colored pencils, charcoal on board
I wouldn't want you to think I haven't done my homework - here's
something traditional. A nice earthy sketch of
some flowers from around the campus - I recall getting too
excited with the blending and needing to un-do some of it with white
pencil.
Boots and Stones '94
Boots and Stones '94
Conte crayon on heavy stock
I think this is some of my best lighting work, at least it always seems
to make a big impact on people. It's a little smudged -
I should have it mounted. In person it's about 36 x 24 inches.
Paper Bag Power '94
Paper Bag Power '94
Conte crayon on heavy stock
This one's mounted on a big sheet of pale newsprint with the prominent
assertion "Paper Bag Power", as I appear to be menacing the viewer
with a paper bag. This was from a series that showed various stages
in mutilating a bag - proves (or disproves?) I can do hands.
Anecdote: When I broke-up with my girlfriend later that year, we negotiated a
deal surrendering some of my artwork - she got the whole series except
this one.
Bones I '95
Bones I '95
Pencil on heavy stock
As I recall I did this in Biology when I was supposed to be, well,
studying Biology and not Art. Do you think such behavior contributed
to me failing the class? Doh! Have we had enough traditional
stuff yet?

Transfer process collage and pencil
Now let's have some fun: Here's a collage I did with a really hazardous
chemical that transfers newsprint from behind onto paper. So first,
let me disclaim that this piece is composed from the work of others.
Of course, it only transfers shades, not details and certainly not
emotion, so I get some credit too. Everyone enjoys this one - in
person, it's huge - about 48 x 57 inches - this is just an excerpt
from my favorite region.

Additional selections from this period
I'll be gradually adding more material to this section as I dig it out
from under a pile of new material. :)
